The dropper allows you to control the amount of essence you use so that you don't overload your usage. Anyway, applying too much will make your skin feels oily, so make sure you only apply the amount you need. A few drops is really sufficient!

What is Mandelic Acid?

It is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) extracted from bitter almond which has anti-bacterial and AHA properties that makes it an ideal ingredient for skin care products.

Mandelic Acid works by increasing the rate of cellular turnover, which purges the skin of dead skin cells. This way, it not only helps eliminate hyperpigmentation, acne and oily skin, but also diminishes appearance of fine lines and wrinkles!

Will Mandelic Acid suit my skin?

Mandelic Acid has smaller molecular size than other AHAs in the field, so it is well tolerated by virtually all skin types, including sensitive skin. That being said, do always do a spot test if you are not sure if you are suitable for the product!

Effects

Mandelic acid is an exfoliant, so it will expose your new layer of skin to the sun. As newer skin are slightly more vulnerable to the sun, do wear sunscreen of at least SPF 30! 

As part of normal skin renewal process, minor peeling effect will occur. Remember to hydrate your skin a lot by applying moisturizer and drink more water. Also, avoid using whitening & AHA products as Mandelic Acid is already very effective on its own.

Results

Amazing!! My skin felt different the very next day of application. It was much much much more smoother and I was really amazed!

The third day of using this, my skin started peeling a little, that's when I freaked out but I remembered reading about it in some reviews. So, I just increase my water intake and put moisturizer whenever my skin is 'flaky'. After a few days of minor skin peeling, my skin has visibly lighten! No doubt the skin renewal process was working! 

Now, after 40 days of using this essence, it did lighten most of my acne scars and my skin is definitely smoother and brighter! I also noticed that I have fewer break outs compared to last time~~

Skinfood Agave Cactus Emulsion & Toner

Directions of usage
Pour a bit of the toner onto a facial cotton wipe and clean your face. Use more when you need it because too much might be a little oily and it evaporates fast.

Review
Toner is clear as water & has a strong smell which I happen to like. After applying on skin, I had to spread it real quick before it was fully absorbed. Effect was good as it does help to cleanse a lot. Do note that although this product is 'alcohol-free', there's still stinging sensation when it touches your eye!

After using a serum, apply emulsion to face till it is fully absorbed.

Review
 It looks white and gelish, slightly difficult to pour from bottle so I have to scoop it out. The product range are supposed to be non-sticky but I could feel a little stickiness even after the emulsion was absorbed into my skin. However, the next day, my skin felt really smooth.

Then what is pigmentation?? Is it necessary for treatments?

Pigmentation is the colouring of your skin. It is a skin condition where patches of the skin turn into a darker shade of colour due to excessive presence of melanin, found on skin surface. 

Melanin is produced by melanocytes and functions as miniatures umbrellas to skin cells to protect the skin from sun and UV damages.

Although pigmentations are usually harmless, for cosmetics reasons, it can be a nuisance. No one likes heading out with clearly visible spots or skin discolouration or acne scars. It is definitely very troublesome to feel the need to apply foundation or concealer to 'cover' the flaws! Most people wouldn't mind it but who doesn't like perfect skin? ;)

My Shakura experience

First, I was invited into a private consultation room where a consultant asked me a few questions about my skin and facial care regimes.

Afterward, I had a one-on-one consultation, where another consultant analysed my skin and take 'snapshots' of the pigmentation problem on my skin. My main concern about my face is acne scars, although it is not very serious, it still irks me that the spots are still there although the acne is already long gone. It's like the acne is leaving its mark to show that it was there before lol

Time to go for treatment! The room was small and comfortably lighted, I liked how the consultant has dimmed the light so that I can feel more relaxed~

She first removed my light makeup ( tinted moisturizer and coloured lip balm ) and proceed with the cleansing, toning, and applied a lot of nice-smelling products hehe ^_^ It was cooling and smells so good!

The first mask she put was very comfortable and I could feel my skin absorbing the moisture and tightening! There was another cold mask which hardens and it really smells like the Enchanteur perfumed talc powder I use all the time! I doze off after 5 minutes of figuring which smell the mask reminds me of lol

The whole treatment took me about 1.5 hours and I witnessed immediate changes to my skin!! It was more radiant, whitened and smoother! The extracting of white and black heads might be painful for some, but weirdly, I enjoyed the process haha. Other than that, I loved the treatment! I always enjoyed pampering my skin and the feeling of cold masks.

Customer Service

The first consultant who did my treatment was friendly and approachable. However, she asked me many many many things about my job and I felt kind of stressed out. It's like she was doing some market research haha

The second consultant finished up the treatment for me and praised my skin non-stop (no doubt praising their treatment). She was nice at first but once I declined to sign up for their package, she tried very hard to reason it out why their package is the best and then got annoyed or something. I understand where she's coming from, but if I said that 'I will consider and come back if I'm interested', I think she should have stopped hard-selling it. She gave me a look that says 'Your loss, not mine.' when I left the room. Well, I kind of expected that so it's fine.
