It is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) extracted from bitter almond which has anti-bacterial and AHA properties that makes it an ideal ingredient for skin care products.
Mandelic Acid works by increasing the rate of cellular turnover, which purges the skin of dead skin cells. This way, it not only helps eliminate hyperpigmentation, acne and oily skin, but also diminishes appearance of fine lines and wrinkles!
Will Mandelic Acid suit my skin?
Mandelic Acid has smaller molecular size than other AHAs in the field, so it is well tolerated by virtually all skin types, including sensitive skin. That being said, do always do a spot test if you are not sure if you are suitable for the product!
Effects
Mandelic acid is an exfoliant, so it will expose your new layer of skin to the sun. As newer skin are slightly more vulnerable to the sun, do wear sunscreen of at least SPF 30!
As part of normal skin renewal process, minor peeling effect will occur. Remember to hydrate your skin a lot by applying moisturizer and drink more water. Also, avoid using whitening & AHA products as Mandelic Acid is already very effective on its own.
